Mission Accomplished! NASA Plush Beanie Bear
This adorable "Mission Accomplished "plush beanie bear was developed by Laurel Lichtenberger and was manufactured by Plushland in 2011 to commemorate the 30-year success of NASA's space shuttle program. The bear was available for sale as a charitable fundraising memento at the last three orbiter mission press events held at Kennedy Space Center for Discovery (STS-133), Endeavour (STS-134) and Atlantis (STS-135).
The significance of these special "Mission Accomplished" bears was great enough to merit one of them being placed into a special time capsule along with other important space shuttle program memorabilia (including a space shuttle heat shield tile) that resides in a vault covered by a commemorative plaque in the "Space Shuttle Atlantis" exhibit at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. This time capsule is scheduled to be re-opened in 2061 (50 years after the last shuttle flight) to help describe the importance of the space shuttle program from the perspective of the people working at Kennedy Space Center during the 30-year timespan when the orbiters flew.
This high quality soft beanie bear is 5.5 inches high in the sitting position, and is adorned with a navy blue shirt with the NASA Meatball logo and the slogan "Mission Accomplished!" screen-printed on the front. The back has a screen-printed rendition of the "Space Shuttle Program Commemorative Patch" designed by Blake Dumesnil from Hamilton Sundstrand.
Don't miss out on this historically significant memento as we only have a very limited supply on hand. Proceeds from these remaining bears go to support the California Science Center Foundation, a Non-Profit California Corporation that is the home of the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
Safety tested appropriate for children 3 and up.
