After 25 successful space missions, Space Shuttle Endeavour embarked on a fantastic journey in the fall of 2012 called Mission 26: The Big Endeavour. First the orbiter flew on top of a 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to Los Angeles International Airport. A few weeks later, Endeavour was carefully navigated through 12 miles of city streets in Inglewood and Los Angeles to arrive at its permanent home at the California Science Center.

This Mission 26 emblem was created by the California Science Center to commemorate this incredible event. The numbers 25:123:12 in the blue trail coming from the end of the 747 denote Endeavour’s 25 space missions, the approximate 123 million miles it flew in space, and the 12 miles it traveled through city streets to arrive at the California Science Center.

What's the difference between "Woven" and "Embroidered" patches?

Woven patches use different colored threads that are actually woven by a loom directly into fabric to create the desired design. This allows the patch to retain far more detail then an embroidered patch. However, weaving threads are not as bright and vibrant as embroidery threads.

Embroidered patches are created by stitching colored threads on top of a fabric backing to create the desired design. These colored embroidery threads are more vibrant but rest directly on top of the fabric backing thus limiting the ability to obtain fine details within the design.
